Our mission is to support artists, writers, performers and other creatives by providing time and space to experiment and develop projects and ideas.

The Peanut Factory, Inc. is an artist residency and community arts program located in a 1932 peanut processing mill. We host residencies in our refurbished mill with performance space, and also own and manage the 110 acre Spruill Conservation Farm, where we invite you to enjoy our waterfront campsites, trails, and magnificent fig orchard.
Our Vision
We envision a factory of ideas that cultivates the creative spirit in all our communities, a hub for dynamic immersive experiences at the intersection of art and nature.
Our Values
We value the transformative power of creative expression, the richness of diverse regional heritage and our individual abilities to enrich the frameworks of society.

Luis Castaneda

Luis Castaneda As a designer for the Peanut Factory, Inc.—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization and artist residency program founded in 2013 and dedicated to cultural engagement through the arts— Luis Castaneda has contributed to advancing the organization’s identity and community presence through sustained design initiatives. Building on this work, Luis initiated the Spruill Conservation Farm Learning Center Project (SFLC), extending the Peanut Factory’s mission across the Albemarle Sound region.
